Doja Cat – Vegas (Official Video)

Doja Cat raised the hype on Friday (June 3) with the release of her flashy “Vegas” music video.

The previously released song, which interpolates Big Mama Thornton’s 1952 foundational rock and roll song “Hound Dog,” was the first taste of Elvis Original Motion Picture Soundtrack.

“Vegas” is a cheeky play on one of Presley’s biggest hits, “Hound Dog (1956),“ that finds Doja rapping about a trifling ex over a Yeti Beats and Rogét Chahayed instrumental that samples Big Mama Thornton’s original 1953 recording of the song. In the video, Doja lounges in a sundress, fanning herself as she moves through a shady room into a nearly empty theater where she links up with Shonka Dukureh, who plays Thornton in the forthcoming film. Dukureh will also feature on the soundtrack, as will Austin Butler (who stars as Elvis) and other members of the cast. Tom Hanks, who portrays Elvis’ long-time manager Colonel Tom Parker, is not listed in the lineup.
