“Watch the Throne”: Nicki Minaj vs. Cardi B—A New Twitter War Over Sales, Kids, and Conspiracies

In late September 2025, Cardi B dropped her new album Am I the Drama?, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200. But not long after its release, Nicki Minaj took to X (Twitter) to poke at the record’s promotional pricing. Among her now-deleted posts: the line “$4.99,” mocking what she implied were artificially deflated sales to boost charts. She also altered lyrics from Cardi’s song Magnet, injecting clever shade by twisting “ABCDEF G” into a taunt—seemingly calling Cardi’s success a facade.

Nicki didn’t stop there. She leveled accusations that Cardi inflated her first‐week numbers, called her music “demonic,” and even suggested that some of Cardi’s public persona was curated for shock rather than substance.  In those same tweets, Minaj also took jabs at figures tied to Cardi’s world: she alluded to Jay-Z and Roc Nation, tagging Desiree (Desiree Perez, Roc Nation’s COO) and throwing shade that the two camps might be scheming together.

Cardi B was quick to respond. She denied any sales fakery, mocked the notion that Nicki should compare her to peers like Rihanna and Drake (rather than younger artists), and fired back with slights about alleged drug use on Nicki’s part. She also brought up Minaj’s family legal issues—touching on her husband’s criminal record and her brother’s conviction—and accused Nicki of being disconnected from real motherhood.

Things got uglier when the two began throwing shade at each other’s children. On Minaj’s son’s birthday, Cardi publicly called her out: “Girl it’s YOUR SON BIRTHDAY why are you on twitter dedicating essays to me??”  Minaj, meanwhile, allegedly insulted Cardi’s daughter and suggested limitations in her speech development—sparking outrage from fans and celebrities alike.

The blast zone didn’t stop with kids. Nicki singled out The Breakfast Club (the radio/interview show) and questioned their ethics in how they handle hot takes. She also referenced Desiree, Saucy Santana, and insinuated that Cardi’s alliances in Atlanta and dealings with Roc Nation were part of backroom maneuvering.

Through it all, the feud echoes years of tension. This fight isn’t just about one album—it’s about legacy, respect, and relevance. Each side clearly sees the other as a threat, whether to chart dominance or to cultural influence.

What’s next? Expect more deleted tweets, fans picking favorites, possibly diss tracks, and maybe—just maybe—a truce if the receipts get too heavy to carry.
