R&B superstar Usher has reportedly filed a lawsuit against producer Bryan-Michael Cox and several others over what he says was a failed restaurant investment that never materialized, leading to significant financial losses and legal disputes. The lawsuit alleges mismanagement, lack of transparency, and unfulfilled obligations connected to a hospitality venture the singer invested in years ago.
According to reports, Usher claims he contributed funds under the belief that the project—an Atlanta-based upscale restaurant concept—was progressing. Instead, he alleges that key milestones were never reached and that communication from the business organizers became increasingly inconsistent. The restaurant never opened, prompting Usher to pursue legal action.
Following news of the lawsuit, Bryan-Michael Cox publicly addressed the situation, clarifying his role and distancing himself from any allegations of misconduct. In a statement shared on social media, Cox wrote:

“I’ve learned a lot recently about being careful with who you choose to invest in a business with.

No matter how small the investment…. I’m currently in the middle of a failed deal that I didn’t orchestrate, and while the situation has been disappointing, I know my name will be cleared by both sides. It’s just unfortunate that this clarity didn’t come sooner.”
Cox also emphasized that he was not involved in the business operations tied to the lawsuit:
“My legal team has also advised me of a lawsuit involving a company where I am only a passive minority shareholder. I was not a participant in that business transaction and have no involvement in the ongoing legal process.”
To shut down speculation about tension between him and Usher, Cox made one thing clear:
“While I’m unable to share more details right now, I want to make one thing absolutely clear: my 27-year friendship with @usher remains fully intact.”

The producer ended by thanking supporters:

“Thank you for the love, the patience, and the understanding.”
Despite the lawsuit, insiders say both men remain on good terms as the legal system works through the disputed business dealings. More information is expected as filings continue and additional parties respond to the case.
