Polo G has kicked off the rollout of his fourth studio album with the release of its first single, “Distraction,” along with a music video courtesy Christian Breslauer. The Chicago emcee’s forthcoming record is scheduled to arrive this summer, though the specific release date and the title have yet to be announced. Every track will feature production work from Southside, and the new song is co-produced by CuBeatz.
The track serves as the Chicago rapper’s first new solo music since the arrival of the deluxe edition of Hall of Fame last year. The lyrics see Polo getting introspective about not receiving enough respect for his talent, and opening up about his battle with drug addiction.
The Christian Breslauer-directed video shows Polo as he goes from successes to failures, graduating at one point and heading to jail just moments later. Complete with lots of special effects shots and some inventive transitions, the high-energy visual perfectly suits the bittersweet tone. “Distraction” is the debut single from Polo’s yet-to-be-titled forthcoming album produced from front to back by Southside.
