Free At Last: Pooh Shiesty Walks Out Early After Serving Time for 2020 Shooting

Pooh Shiesty (real name Lontrell Donell Williams Jr.) was released from federal prison on October 6, 2025, having served most of his sentence early.  He had originally been sentenced to 63 months (5 years, 3 months) in April 2022 after pleading guilty to a firearms conspiracy charge stemming from a 2020 shooting incident in South Florida. 

His legal trouble began with two incidents: one in October 2020 in Bay Harbor Islands, Florida, and another in June 2021 in a Miami strip club.  After his second arrest, he was indicted on multiple federal charges, but many were dropped under his plea deal, leaving him to plead guilty to one count of conspiracy to possess firearms in furtherance of violent crimes. 

Because he had spent time in custody prior to the start of his sentence, he was granted credit for time served, which shortened his term.  In September 2024, records from the Bureau of Prisons indicated that his expected release date had been moved earlier than anticipated—initially set for 2026, then adjusted upward to 2025. 

While in prison, Pooh Shiesty kept in touch with fans. In April 2022, upon sentencing, he issued a message from behind bars:

“THE BIGGEST.. I JUST WANNA THANK ALL MY LOVE ONES, SUPPORTERS, AND FANS FOR HOLDING ME DOWN DURING THESE HARD TIMES… I WISH I COULD BE COMINGG HOME TO YALL TODAY BUT THIS COULDVE BEEN WAYYYY WORSE … I WILL BE BACK SOONER THAN YALL !” 

He also posted messages from prison about loyalty and his disdain for informants:

“I represent the ones aint neva fold … i smash on rats … behind my name the whole Memphis know!” 

Support for Pooh Shiesty continued behind the scenes. During his incarceration, he revealed that Lil Baby, Lil Durk, and Don Trip had sent him letters of encouragement.  His music label and fans also maintained public support, expecting that his return would be impactful. 

Pooh’s early release signals a new chapter. Having accepted a plea and with credit for time served, he now re-enters the music world earlier than many expected. The streets, his collaborators, and fans alike will be watching how he rebuilds and reclaims his voice after this hiatus.
