Diddy Begs Trump for a Presidential Pardon — But Trump’s Response Shocked Everyone

Sean “Diddy” Combs has reportedly petitioned former President Donald Trump for a presidential pardon following his conviction for two counts of transporting individuals into prostitution, for which he was sentenced to 50 months in prison. Trump publicly acknowledged the request during a press encounter, saying, “A lot of people have asked me for pardons. I call him Puff Daddy, [he] has asked me for a pardon.”

However, Trump declined to commit either way. When pressed further, he said he would “take a look” and spoke of consulting with the Department of Justice.  Prior statements also suggest his ambivalence—he once said he was “not closely following the trial” but would “certainly look at the facts” if a pardon request emerged.

Some context: Trump has granted clemency to several high-profile individuals, including NBA YoungBoy (Kentrell Gaulden) for federal gun charges, and Todd and Julie Chrisley for bank fraud and tax evasion.  His clemency record also includes commutations and pardons for other political figures and individuals with notable public profiles.

Diddy’s legal team has already signaled that they plan to appeal both his conviction and sentence. They’ve also petitioned for him to serve his time at FCI Fort Dix, New Jersey, citing its drug treatment programs and proximity to family.  Whether Trump will grant clemency remains uncertain — the decision, if it comes, would likely hinge on legal strategy, public reaction, and internal DOJ review.
