Brazen Barbie might not be a household name in the U.S. just yet, but that could change sooner than later.
The 21-year-old Kenyan-Australian rapper out of Melbourne is carving out her own lane with sharp bars, bold visuals and a sound heavily influenced by the late ’90s and early 2000s — an era that’s clearly back in fashion, but never really left hip-hop.
And Brazen doesn’t come across like she’s simply recreating the past. There’s personality behind it.

Records like “En Route,” “AIN’T NO DUMMY” and “Blessings” show an artist who already has a pretty clear idea of who she wants to be. There’s confidence in the delivery, attitude in the writing and a throwback aesthetic that fits naturally instead of feeling forced.

The buzz is starting to follow.
Brazen has already picked up support from Apple Music’s Rap Life and Ebro, while back home she landed among triple j Unearthed’s 15 most-played artists of 2025. Her growing résumé also includes coverage from Rolling Stone Australia, Complex and VICE.
But one of the more interesting signs of where things could be headed is happening outside Australia.
Brazen recently linked with Los Angeles-based DJ and producer NAAR for the single “Like Me,” while her own record “Pack It Up” scored a placement on The Chi and has been gaining attention through Shazam.
For an independent artist still at the beginning of an international push, those are meaningful looks.
And if you want to know whether the personality translates without the polished visuals, her triple j BARS performance is probably the better introduction. Put her in front of a mic and the confidence is still there.

What makes Brazen Barbie worth paying attention to isn’t that she already has everything figured out. It’s that she feels early.

She has the look. She has records. She has personality. And now she’s beginning to collect the right cosigns and placements to take what she’s built in Australia somewhere much bigger.
With new music expected this fall, along with a larger project and touring plans on the horizon, 2026 could be the year more American listeners start hearing the name Brazen Barbie.
Consider this your early introduction
