Nuggets and Bucks
The Hawks took on the Denver Nuggets in the home opener. This was also the first return of Paul Millsap since being traded to Denver. Atlanta fought hard but fell to the western conference team 105-100. Dennis Schroeder led the Atl with 20 points and the Nuggets had 5 players with at least 16 points. Two days later Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Milwaukee Bucks visited Philips Arena for an early Sunday matchup. The Bucks jumped out to a commanding lead in the first half behind elevated play from the “Greek Freak”. Atlanta did somewhat close the gap by the end of the game but still fell short 106-117. Hawks finished with 5 players in double digit scoring while Milwaukee’s Antetokounmpo had 33 and SG Khris Middleton 27.
The Atlanta Hawks Basketball Club and Philips Arena remain committed to making Atlantans proud on the court and off. The 2014-15 Southeast Division Champions actually, the Hawks have made the postseason in 10 consecutive seasons and reached the Eastern Conference Finals for the first time in franchise history in 2015. Off the court, the organization has built a culture of inclusion, diversity and innovation. It continues into the community where the organization builds bridges through basketball. The Hawks are definitely hands on in the city. They have been constructing and refurbishing courts in Atlanta neighborhoods and providing scholarships to our basketball camps.
